About the Project
During my internship at the University of Akron Press, I was tasked with designing a promotional postcard for the Akron Poetry Prize — an annual poetry contest open to all poets writing in English.
The winning poet receives an honorarium of $1,500 and publication of their book in the Akron Series in Poetry, with the final selection made by a nationally prominent poet. The postcard needed to communicate the prestige of the prize while staying consistent with the Press's established brand identity.
The design balances a literary, editorial aesthetic with clean layout and clear hierarchy — guiding the reader through the key details of the contest in a format suited for both mailing and display.
